From my point of view, the picture shows the flight practice theory lessons of the future (already present in your case).
We want the flight schools to ensure that flight practice theory lessons, even for beginners, take place exactly as shown in the picture. This is already part of the current flight instructor training courses.
We have also been able to win over a producer of good simulators that show control paths, control pressures, forces on the lines, etc. quite realistically. Dear flight school directors, dear flight school directors,

During the current online flight instructor training courses in 2021, the topic of “simulator training for control, flight and maneuvering techniques” is being discussed.
There is actually nobody who doubts that the preparation of the flight students in the simulator is an absolutely important thing.
Not only for training control techniques and rescuer deployment. Also for practicing pilot positions, airspace checks, looking over the shoulder and training stall prevention techniques.
The prerequisite is an almost realistic simulation of the conditions on the glider and harness in the simulator. Risers, control travel, control pressure, tensile forces on the lines, straps and speed system.

Let’s look at a photograph of an automobile from 1950, and let’s look at a photograph of a school class from the same year that is being taught.
Let’s compare the whole thing with a “pic” from today. What is striking is how rapidly automobile development has progressed and how school lessons are still going on as they did back then. Wherever I look, frontal teaching continues with moderate learning success. Alternative education and private schools with new learning concepts tend to remain the exception. What is striking, however, is that more and more students in the city are being dropped off in SUVs right in front of the school.

My name is Xandi Meschuh, I attended the Pedagogical Academy in Klagenfurt for 7 semesters, was once state champion in model flying and multiple World Cup winners in acro-gliding. I’ve been a test pilot since 2002 and I organize paragliding safety training.

Every paraglider pilot knows that the paraglider is not only flown with the steering lines. Weight shifting is just as important. The whole body flies, and at some point it should merge with its harness and wing, become one.
Especially when flying maneuvers, the correct sequence of movements is the most important thing.
But how should this be done in face-to-face teaching when the teacher is demonstrating the maneuver in the simulator and the participants in the classroom are just watching? You can usually see the result in the first flight. Then at the latest you realize that it takes a few repetitions before the student uses his body correctly in the maneuver.
However, this causes stress and tricky situations for students and teachers.

But if every student in theory lessons has their own exercise device, the whole thing looks different. The students learn with all their senses, move, pull on main lines, brakes and stabilizer lines until their fingers are red (-:.
Practice, practice, practice until you get it right.
Getting tired or nodding off during class? none. The participants work up a sweat because they are fully challenged. You might be surprised at how many repetitions it takes to get it right. But who has learned to walk in one day?

At the end of each individual lesson, the teacher checks the learning goal. He calls:
Open the brakes from the half hit, full throttle.
side slap is coming! – Get out of the gas – drop into the folded side, catch the outer wing, release the collapse with the brake.
cravat ! Support ! Open with brake input, stabilizer line, open with rattle!
With cravats, big ears and speed-bar in the direction of the landing field…turning only with weight shifting!

There are countless great examples that the teacher can do with the students. The great thing is that the trainer immediately recognizes incorrect movement sequences when working out, instead of experiencing the big surprise in the air.

However, the simulator training is not only to be used for the flight practice teaching unit.
The rather dry part of air law can always be loosened up with front collapses or other exercises. And when, in a few years, every student has their own 3D glasses on, the so-important avoidance rules when learning and implementing can be raised to a new level. Every year, a number of flight schools come to visit me at the landing field. The flight instructors admire my 15 simulators and photograph them from all sides.
I don’t have to convince anyone of the benefits, everyone recognizes immediately that this increases the quality of teaching and learning success by 100%.
